Citizen's Police Academy
About the Academy
Walking the Line
The Winfield Citizen's Police Academy was created in order to provide an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the services and practices the Winfield Police Department utilizes to maintain the safety and security of our community.

The Citizen's Police Academy provides an opportunity for citizens to learn firsthand about police operations through a comprehensive twelve week program that will include a series of lectures, field trips, ride-a-longs, and simulated activities.

The goal is to create a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens who have the potential of influencing public opinions about police practices and services.  Citizens will gain an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing law enforcement and have an opportunity to offer comments and ideas regarding solutions.

The Academy consists of a series of classes held on Thursdays for 12 weeks from 6:30 -9:30 p.m.  The instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the Police Department each week.
